Review: Nightlight

Summary: About three things I was absolutely certain. First, Edwart was most likely my soul mate, maybe. Second, there was a vampire part of him–which I assumed was wildly out of his control–that wanted me dead. And third, I unconditionally, irrevocably, impenetrably, heterogeneously, gynecologically, and disreputably wished he had kissed me.

And thus Belle Goose falls in love with the mysterious and sparkly Edwart Mullen in the Harvard Lampoon’s hilarious send-up of Twilight. Pale and klutzy, Belle arrives in Switchblade, Oregon looking for adventure, or at least an undead classmate. She soon discovers Edwart, a super-hot computer nerd with zero interest in girls. After witnessing a number of strange events–Edwart leaves his tater tots untouched at lunch! Edwart saves her from a flying snowball!–Belle has a dramatic revelation: Edwart is a vampire. But how can she convince Edwart to bite her and transform her into his eternal bride, especially when he seems to find girls so repulsive?

Complete with romance, danger, insufficient parental guardianship, creepy stalker-like behavior, and a vampire prom, Nightlight is the uproarious tale of a vampire-obsessed girl, looking for love in all the wrong places.  (Taken from Goodreads)

This book was really funny and I loved how quirky Belle's character was, however sometimes I felt that the humor went too far and stopped being funny.  I'm not a huge fan of Twilight, but I have read all the books and moderately enjoyed them and I would recommend this book to all fans of Twilight and all Twilight haters.
Overall: 4 stars (I use the same rating system as goodreads)

Review: The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games
by Suzanne Collins
Publication Date: September 14, 2008
First Line: When I wake up, the other side of the bed is cold.
My Rating: 5 stars (out of 5)
Summary: (from Goodreads)
Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with every one out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

I can't even beginning to tell how much I love this book. I had heard a lot about it but had never sat down and read it, well when I did, whoosh, blew me away.  I love the characters so much, I feel like I'm friends with them.  Ahh! Love Katniss and Peeta so much. Team Peeta all the way.The beginning is sort of slow, but its worth it once you get to the Reaping because after that its is very difficult to put down.  I just can't wait for Mockingjay to come out. 6 days!!!!
